I am a 69 year old nurse, suffering from depression, anxiety, PTSD, and chronic pain from multiple spinal and disc problems. I have done extensive research on available treatments for all these issues, and decided to try ketamine. There are 2 main ketamine protocols; one for depression, anxiety, PTSD, and similar issues. The other is for pain. I decided to try the one for my PTSD first. It is vital to follow a customized, personal protocol, with appropriately trained and experienced practitioners. Dr. Ang, who runs the Ketamine Clinic, is an Anesthesiologist, who is very informed and experienced with ketamine. His nurse works with him seamlessly, making the experience the best I could imagine. My treatment plan was based on my symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, and medications that may affect the way the ketamine works. The Ketamine Center of Connecticut is the best of its kind that I found. I was treated with respect, had everything explained to me in detail, felt safe and comfortable during the infusions, and knew I was being closely monitored. I was briefed and debriefed before and after each session. I had excellent results from the initial series of infusions for my PTSD. Loops of negative self-talk were muted, and I felt bigger and stronger than my issues. As an added bonus, several weeks later, my depression is better, and it even helped a bit with pain. I am planning to do a pain protocol, and Dr. Ang has already discussed how to customize it, based on how I responded to the series I had. I cannot say enough positive comments about my experience. Do not be fooled by the sprays (not the whole drug), clinics that have a one-dose-fits-all approach (needs to be tailored to you), or use practitioners who do not have the teaching, training, and experience to be using a powerful tool (I was very comfortable that an Anesthesiologist and his nurse were on top of it). And the IV control is imperative. That is truly designed to customize it. My life is changing in positive ways, and I am excited to work further with them as my pain eventually gets worse. As a last note, and important to me, was that Dr. Ang and his nurse, being very professional, were also very loving and caring. I felt support from them, genuine interest in what I was experiencing, and a desire from them for me to succeed. I am so happy to have found them!
